JOBS FOR OHIO & A STRONG ECONOMY:
I understand that government and politicians don't create jobs. I am focused on rebuilding Ohio to make the Buckeye State economically competitive and welcoming to innovation and job creation. Years of poor leadership has resulted in high taxes, job-killing regulations and too many levels of bureaucratic red tape, stifling innovation and discouraging entrepreneurs from doing business in Ohio.
Increasing taxes is never the solution to the economic and budgetary challenges for our state. I am focused on rebuilding Ohio to make the Buckeye State economically competitive, introduce business friendly polices, and encourage innovation.
You can count on me to fight for:
Reducing the cost of government: I will take a microscope to current government programs to ensure taxpayers are getting their money worth.
Create a business friendly environment: We need to remove barriers, red tape and bureaucracy. High taxes, excessive regulation, and frivolous lawsuits do not help businesses succeed and create jobs. I want to put an end to those things and
put up the welcome sign for employers.
Develop a 21st century workforce: I want to see us take the great resources of our schools, colleges, community colleges, and universities, and hold them accountable to prepare Ohioans to meet workforce demands.
Stop the brain drain of Ohio’s best and brightest: I support a retroactive income tax credit eliminating tax liability for five years to individuals who obtain a baccalaureate degree from a college or university in Ohio and who reside in Ohio for a minimum of 5 years after graduation.
Increase Ohio’s tourism: I believe making Ohio an attractive state to visit will also improve our ability to sell our state. It will show our state is a place to raise a family, build a business and call home.

STANDING UP TO HIGHER TAXES:
I believe that you know how to spend your own money better than Columbus. I will fight hard against any attempts to raise your taxes and continue to seek out tax relief for Ohioans and small business. It is time to return private citizens’ money to them so that they can help private enterprise prosper, rather than see it squandered by an inefficient government.
I have signed Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform Pledge not to increase taxes. I am the only candidate in Ohio’s 86th district race to pledge never to support a tax increase in the future.
I also support real tax reform for Ohio that will eliminate the estate tax (death tax) and put our state on a course towards the elimination of the income tax.
DEFENDING OUR VALUES:
I believe that taking a stand and defending our values is important. Every child deserves a mother and a father and marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman.
I strongly believe that every life, including an unborn one, is a precious gift and is entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE:
I grew up in a farming community, and have spent time as a youth helping my grandmother in 4-H. I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with Ohio farmers. I understand that Ohio’s agriculture is our state’s number one industry, contributing $98 billion to our state’s economy.
You can count on me to protect Ohio farmers from out-of-state special interests like HSUS to put extreme regulations on Ohio farmers. I will look for ways to promote Ohio agriculture to global markets and help find ways to open new markets for all of Ohio’s commodities including value-added products such as bio- products and alternative fuels. I will also look to revitalize the innovative spirit to improve and bolster our research and technology in the agriculture field with help from our higher educational systems and research centers. I will fight to ensure our Ohio farmers are able to be competitive with farmer in other states.
I am a proud member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau.

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS:
I am committed to ensuring our constitutional right to bear arms is protected. I love that our country and state have a long traditional heritage of hunting and sport shooting. More importantly, I uphold the right of every Ohioan to be able to protect their property and their families.
I also support educational programs about the use of firearms, marksmanship and safety programs. As your next State Representative I will continue to uphold our right to bear arms.
I am a proud member of the NRA and have received an A rating and endorsement from the Buckeye Firearms Association. I continue to keep close ties to the local hunting and sporting community.

REFORMING GOVERNMENT:
I strongly believe that Government, at every level, must become more efficient and respond to the needs of taxpayers. Our agencies and organizations need to be refocusing on customer service and remember that the true bosses are YOU, the citizens of this fine state.
I am determined to ensure that voters are informed and that our government is transparent. It is time for the government to get back to work for the people and not the other way around.
I also believe that instead of creating more laws, we must truly reevaluate the ones we already have on the shelves. The elimination of red tape and bureaucracy is the key to making Ohio competitive once again.
IMPROVING EDUCATION:
It is time we put the dollars back where they belong in the classroom. Ohio is 47th out of 50 in spending dollars in the classroom and 9th in spending in overhead and bureaucracy. Columbus's priorities aren't in order. Money spent on education should get to the classroom — it shouldn't be tied up in administrative and bureaucratic costs.
I believe that education is best served when the local community, through parents, teachers, and principals control the schools instead of state and federal bureaucrats. I also believe that parents should have the right to choose where their children are educated. We also must stop the unfunded mandates that continue to burden our parents, educators, and school districts.
At our institutions of higher education, we must ensure the focus is on the students that are attending these institutions. I believe we need to stop bloating administrative salaries and seek out ways to drive competition to keep costs low and colleges and universities affordable.
HEALTH CARE:
I believe, without question, our country has the best health care system in the world. Ohio is a state vastly diverse with the latest medical research and innovative procedures being developed and performed at institutes which are consistently among the best in the nation and the world.
Unfortunately, these very distinctions are in danger due to the recent effort by the U.S. Congress to create a government run health care system. Affordability is often an impediment to receiving quality care. The current health care system has inherent flaws. However, I believe that the federal government has no authority to force a government run health care system on its citizens.
The recent health care policies passed by the U.S. Congress are unconstitutional and must be repealed. Instead of a government run healthcare mandate, I believe the real solution lies with addressing and fixing problems in our current healthcare system. We should look at addressing costs, expanding access to health saving accounts, portability, incentives for healthy lifestyles, and give small business the tool to pool their health care risks.
